Are there any absolutes?

There is one absolute to be sure, the absolute being of all things. You can call it the Universe. The Universe is our absolute truth, all things worldly, scientifically and spiritually spawn from the Universe, our Absolute truth. The Universe(the Being) is HE. HE is absolute, HIS hands are reaching forever. Nothing is beyond HIM, HE is it.

  1. Ok first things first - Who is "HE"? Why does "HE" have to be a "he" and not a "her"? Or "they"? Or any other pronoun in the English language? Why is THEE "Being" gendered?

And second, an "Absolute being"? It's hard to comprehend what other people have to say about such an absolute being and it is impossible (pointless, a non-problem, not applicable, untestable, inbfallable, inconsequential, etc...) to claim to have figured out what "absoulte being" actually MEANS to the universe and not just the pitiful human race, so there's no point in talking about it, really, if you care about the kind of truth that matters, which is the kind we CAN know and talk about in a non-magical, non-mysterious, and non-fakely understood way. I'm sure there is crap out there we don't know but why jump to claiming the "Absolute" of everything?? It's just so.... pretend.

  2. You sound like a crazy religious person. Why care at all about whatever this absolute thing is you are talking about? How is that absolute truth at all? Does believing any of that change your life at all?

  3. "HE" seems to the two commentors to trigger a concept of God popularized in American society. Thats ok, imagine it then to say:

The Universe is our Absolute truth.

This is the heart of the message, so if have questions on that I should be able to answer them now without having to write a book which is what I found myself doing in my attempts to reply.

    1. "The Universe is our Absolute truth" is MEANINGLESS. You WILL need to write a book to explain the meaning of this, and even after you do that, it will STILL be a meaningless sentence. Why? Because we don't fully understand the Universe, and we don't understand Absolute truth, (if we grant that the latter itself means anything at all). So you're taking two things we don't understand or have a full comprehension of, and equating them. Nothing is accomplished here! How do you not see that? Do you think that statement "The Universe is our Absolute truth" is somehow enlightening, deeply profound, or significant in ANY way? Seriously...

    2. Tell me.... do you need to fully understand to talk about anything? If that were the case we couldn't speak because neither you or I fully understand anything. And further, the Universe is very well understood. Everything that has ever happened to you, every experience you've had has come by way of the universe. So everything in your mind is a part of the universe. It is common to think that there is a seperateness between ourselves and the universe. There is none. Myself and the Universe are the same entity. Now maybe you say what's the point? The point is to have consistent thoughts to lead to truth in all matters. By having an absolute base I can spawn all my thoughts, if I'm concentrated in awareness, from that base.

      The Universe is our absolute.

    3. It is more than OK to talk about something you don't fully understand - we do all of the time. We CAN talk about concepts of "truth" and "absoluteness", and so on. But the way you talk about these things, your language seems to only apply to some ineffable ju-ju that is probably made up in your own head. Your statement is bombastic, at best.

Anyway, you've made your point here, and it is difficult to argue against because it covers what is ultimately a subjective (and maybe even "spritual") matter - namely your relationship with "the Universe". And these matters are not worthwhile discussing, unless we're referencing and discussing statements like in the original post.

It is one thing to feel a deep connection to the earth, animals, stars, air molecules, whatever - and it is another thing to claim to have the hold on truth so easily, with a wave of some magic words. Why do you explicitly claim no one "fully understand[s] anything", but somehow, YOU have the capability to "spawn..[consistent] thoughts [that lead to truth in all matters]...if...concentrated in awareness, from [an absolute base]"?

So, what is the operational definition of "truth" here? What are "consistent thoughts"? Are you just talking about your own intuition?

I think it's time to move onto real things. Like the absurdity of the statement featured in the original post.

    4. "these matters are not worthwhile discussing, unless we're referencing and discussing statements like in the original post."

"There is one absolute to be sure"
The reason for this post is the philosophical idea that there are no absolutes. So I set out to prove an absolute.

"the absolute being of all things."
The part of us which is aware of ourself and the bond between ourselves and the world around us. This is the true self, and exists in all that exists and is all that exists. The point to get out of this is that after stripping away all the exteriors there is left "being", pure being entirely in and of itself. If you haven't touched this place stop reading now.

"You can call it the Universe"
I sometimes call it the Universe, in my eyes the Universe and God are interchangeable and here's why:
The popularized version of God is characterized by omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence. If you take away the personification(the idea that God is a sort of entity who resides somewhere and does "things") then you are left with a great description of the Universe. Matter and space give omnipresence, energy gives omnipotence, time gives omniscience. This may not be a perfect description but it should be enough to link the Universe and God.

"The Universe is our absolute truth, all things worldly, scientifically and spiritually spawn from the Universe, our Absolute truth."
The purpose of this statement is to tie everything together, to reach the absolute and realize why it is absolute. All things worldly means everything you can sense with your 5 senses. All things scientific means everything we've created with our minds. All things spiritual means everything beyond the mind.Together these things cover the whole of the human experience. What they have in common is their origin, they all came from the Universe. So everything we are including what we "think" we are, is the Universe. We are all the Universe and there is just one of us. This is the Absolute.

The rest I was just getting carried away in it.

    5. Still don't see your point in explaining the "Absolute". Fine - so the Absolute is us all, bonded with the Universe. And so the point is not exactly "to have consistent thoughts that lead to truth in all matters" ? So the point is not to discover truth? Why would anyone want to link the Universe with God? To continue the feeling of having God to believe in, while calling it something different to avoid criticism?

    6. I think you understand it perfectly.

      Except for one part,

This model for God is internal, there are no beliefs, there is just awareness. God is me, this is not belief, it is the only option.

  4. OK and what does God tell you about gun control? Or same sex marriage? What about climate change, envronmental protection, prescription drugs, our government policies on marijuana and alcohol, the over-processing of food to make it sweeter, softer, longer-lived, and more brightly colored? Or the economy, wall street, financial fraud? What about justice, equality, freedom, happiness, health? What does your "Absolute", your "God" in you, make you believe? How does that lead you to truth in all of these matters and more? I think you're just a cowardly bug on a rock in the middle of space that feels scared, scared of itself and the world, and needs to have something to hold onto to feel safe. And that thing can't be questioned or doubted or even considered optional, or else, *poof*, it's gone, and you're on your own.

All these things are perfect and however they are resolved, if they ever are, it will be perfect.

Am I holding on to something or are you? You hold on to your "self", who you think you are, your opinions, your thoughts, the events that occur in your life, these things are real to you. To me they are not. The clinging of the mind is the cause of suffering. Let go of everything and you find God. He is all that is left when everything you thought about life has been stripped aware. You speak of fear, what do you know about it? You say im scared, This body do feel fear, an awesome fear that comes from letting go, but I fear nothing. If others seek to harm this body or this mind, so be it. I am everlasting, caught in the perfection of the universe I can see nothing but beauty. You feel I am a coward but who is trying to demean another's way of life?

    2. you haven't said anything at all that is meaningful or that relates to the real world.
the real world is the cause of suffering, you dumbass. while you sit comfy people are starving, fighting, shooting each other, living horrible lives, dying horrible deaths, and you talk about GOD. Well guess what? God means nothing in the real world.

    3. no I take that back. God, to the real world, does mean something. It means you can relax while the world whooshes by. Your problems are solved, but what about the rest of the world? You think God is going to do anything for people who have no roof over their head, no medicine, no food? You're a joke. A bad joke.

    4. Suffering is necessary or it wouldn't exist. We can't turn our heads from it but we also can't get caught in the melodrama of it as you are. I am witness to a lot of suffering both my own and those around me. There were times were I wanted to end other peoples suffering by force, but I can't do this suffering is a necessary part of human existence. The Buddha says that desire is the cause of suffering, the "real world" you speak of is only relatively real. Until one eliminates desire they will suffer. The amount of suffering in the world is too immense and seems like an in-conquerable opponent. But I have learned that I dont need to eliminate the whole of suffering but when I become aware of another's suffering that is within my range of help, I will help. You are far too concerned with the whole of suffering, if suffering is your enemy join a foundation and go help third world countries. Suffering is not my enemy, it serves as a reminder of what I am.
