Parking is such a drag (by anon)

Parking at UWW can be a bit of a hassle. The price is $70 per semester, for a lot you have to walk a long ways just to get to campus or your dorm. If you buy the temporary parking pass that will cost $2 per day. There is a drive-thru to the parking building, but whenever I try it never seems to work. This means that if you do park in the lot you will most likely get a ticket because you never were able to get a parking pass. My brother bought a parking pass and for some odd reason still got a few parking tickets. Of course, he challenged them and they dropped them. It just seems like UWW is out to get us, one penny at a time. If you do not pay your parking ticket in the first week it will go up about $4, and will keep increasing. If you have do not move your car when there is snow they may give you an extra ticket. If UWW has a home football game and you don’t move your car out of certain lots you will get a ticket. They are so many exceptions and rules for parking nobody really knows them. When I went to college at UW-Waukesha and UW-Platteville, I never had a parking pass. I would park on the roads and never had any problems with tickets. UWW needs more roads allowing for free parking. They need to be less strict about tickets.

  1. Okay, I am with you in that (I commute) paying $100 to be able to park only to not be able to park anywhere is insane! I think you mean to say something other than "They need to be less strict about tickets." I say this because if they were "less strict" then people wouldn't even pay for passes and would take up stalls that us paying people desperately need. In my experiences, I have found that they are rather forgiving about them provided you talk to them. Not a huge deal.

  2. It's not just on campus, its everywhere. I am renting a house a block away from campus and I can't even park outside my house during the day from 8am - 5pm. Also in the town of Whitewater there is NO overnight parking on any street. Which means if you have a guest spend the night you have to hunt down one of only 3 lots in the town that allow overnight parking.

  3. Seriously, who gives a crap about parking in Whitewater????

If there are places for people to park overnight (you've acknowledged this), what's the problem? That there must be walking involved? Just deal with it...

We've got bigger problems... we've got the future of America...

  4. Is this post even real? Someone who lives a block away from campus, complaining about campus parking passes??? WTF???? Walk! Stop being lazy and just walk. You don't have to be superman/woman to walk a mile in 20 minutes, and most students don't live that far from campus. And, I've seen the dorms and campus. Even the greatest distance between a dorm and a campus building can't possibly be as far as a mile. And 20 minutes, 40 there and back, is good. I used to have to spend an hour driving.

  6. Not again, more bitching and complaining about parking. Next will be food in the dorms, professors, grading, failed booty calls, and on and on.

  7. I agree with Anon 6:18. I have been with the blog from the start and this must be at least the 4th or 5th post about parking. I mean I guess it's a relevant issue but each post always covers the same material. I think it's time to face that the parking is what it is and we are powerless to stop it. If your close to campus it's not so bad to walk. If you are a commuter as bad as it sounds your best bet is to come early for a decent spot.

  8. On 9/20 I got a parking ticket while parked in the free part of lot 4. They did void the ticket since it was their mistake but it is such a hassle to have to stop in there when I need to get to work. At least make sure the people you let drive around to ticket know what is required to park in each lot!
