Something that has always bothered me is the fact that alot of people try to put a major emphasis on the Christan religion. I mean I respect everyone and their religion but alot of people turn into Christans because that was the way they were brought up and the were basically forced into that religion but their families or some other outside force. I'm the type of person that likes to find my own religion/way of life and when people ask me about my religion I don't give them a response and they automatically think I'm an atheist and I fee like that's total b.s. just because I don't believe in the same things that they do. Christians are way too judgemental and that is just wrong. People should be able to believe what they want to believe.
Wrong. Get with the program.
ReplyDeleteI am with you on this one.
ReplyDeleteI respect other people's religion but they are always so judgmental about mine. I am a member of Heaven's Gate.
Our leader Marsall Applewhite was directly related to Jesus and his nurse Bonnie Nettles are the the TWO, that is the two witnesses mentioned in the Book of Revelations.
On March 19 -20, 1997 our leader prophet Applewhite and 38 followers shed their earthly bodies and boarded the space craft trailing behind the Hale Bopp comet.
Freed from their bodies, their souls were able to board the space craft and now they are on the other side waiting for End of Days.
Like them we will take our own lives with cyanide, and thereby release our souls and board the next space ship and join with our leaders. We wish for our remains, like our prophet, to be cremated and used to replenish the earth.
I wish people would respect my religion and stop calling it a cult. If you are looking for a great religion consider joining with us.
Thanks for your post. Let people believe what they want to believe. We have a number of young people in our religion.
Given your perspective, I am sure you would not try to change their minds. I wish more people were like you.
Thanks!!!!
yes. people can belive what they want. but there is a right and a wrong. whether you agree or not Christianty is right. god can be seen all around and he comes through loud and clear in the bible. i worry because so many people believe like you do.
ReplyDelete1:05, are you just trying to prove a point that people should respect other people's religions no matter how far out there they are or do you seriously believe in this.... Well... Belief? And 12:14, you sound like Mr. bigot from the abortion column... Am I correct in my assumption? Aside from that, was there something in your past that caused you to despise Christianity? Were you yourself forced.into Christianity at one point in your life?
ReplyDeleteJOIN MY RELIGION, BECOME A SCIENTOLOGIST:)
ReplyDelete7:16, you can mock, but you are wrong. Jesus Christ came down to save you from your sins just as the Bible says. He is either Lord, a liar, or a lunatic. There is nothing to show that he was a liar with all of the writings done about him. and there is nothing to show that he was a lunatic. No one ever shows that. Jesus must then be Lord.
ReplyDeleteI don't know who you are and I don't know who the original poster is, but do your homework fast on the real truth before it is too late. You have no excuse.
12:14 this beef you have with christainity is a little ridiculous. You can put that spin on anything learned from a young age. One could say that America needs to stop pushing it's morals on me. If wanted to think stealing is perfectly fine and the only reason people think it's wrong is because everyone is forced into thinking that way. I know religion is very different from stealing, but I hope you can see the similarities. If you don't like Christianity or whatever that's fine but it's human nature to try to get people to think and be like you.
ReplyDelete746, Sometimes I wonder if education is a complete waste on some people especially after I read this nonsense. Here you are in college (I think) and still running around believing in silly fairy tales. All of us are nothing more than puny humans who crawled out of African less than 150,000 years ago. However, if these fairy tales make life more comforting or you then so be it. In the long run it is not going to matter much what you and I believe, we are both destined to join the still growing 100 billion plus people who are already dead. One of the things I really loved about the late Steve Jobs was that he did not believe in these Christian fairy tales. He knew that when life is over it is over forever. He was a Buddhist.
ReplyDeleteFairy Tales? Are you kidding me? I learned from my parents and my pastor since I was little that Christianity is the one true faith and Jesus is the one true God.
ReplyDeleteNow I like Steve Jobs and regret that he died, but right about now he is burning in hell because he rejected Jesus and God for and the fat Buddha. So he deserves to be in hell. He had a choice.
As Micah said, do your homework fast on the real truth before it is too late and you burn in hell along side Steve Jobs. I am sure Micah would agree, that those who do not accept Jesus and the Lord are infidels and deserve to burn to a crisp in hell forever. Lucifer will and torture them.
This fire is like the eternal flame at JFK's grave it never goes out. The dark lord, Lucifer will stick you from time to time with his fork to see if you are done. As Micah and 8:55 point out, Jesus and Christianity are the truth, accept them and go with us into heaven, be born again into everlasting happiness and bliss. You will love forever and never die.
Repent before it is too late.
Praise the Lord
People have a right to believe what they want; it's one of the fundamental human rights established in the US Constitution.. if the Christian God punishes those who commit no crime but choose to not subject themselves to him... then he is an authoritarian tyrant and not worth the effort it takes to get on our knees.
ReplyDeleteDecent, non-ignorant people have the patience to accept and respect others for who they are (no matter their creed or beliefs).
3:54, what evidence do you have that we definitely came out of Africa 150,000 years ago? All you have is a theory with lots of holes in it. Well, I have a theory too and it is backed up by a book that was written over 1600 years by over 60 authors with one coherent message. Biblical archaeology also backs up the claims of the Bible so we know that it wasn't a fraud.
ReplyDeleteI hate to break it to you but your belief in evolution is more of a fairytale than my belief.
11:36, so you have the patience to accept and respect others for who they are no matter their creed or beliefs. Great, then you would be at home with Hitler, Stalin, Ted Bundy, and other mass murderers. After all, you accept and respect everyone for who they are, NO MATTER ... Your words.
ReplyDeleteMicah, you really need to take a course or read religious history because you do not know what you are talking about.
ReplyDeleteBut first lets deal with the Bible. This book is composed of two parts, the Old and New Testaments. The Old Testament is the Torah, the first five books supposedly written by Moses over 3,000 years ago!
Find out who Micah was. You use his name. It may surprise you.
Why do I need to take religious history? My history was correct. Maybe I wasn't precise enough for you. The Bible was written over a time span of 1600 yrs.
ReplyDeleteYes, I know the Bible is composed of two parts. Who doesn't know that? Maybe what you don't know is that the Bible has one clear message: that Jesus Christ is Lord. The first three books of the New Testament, called the Synoptic Gospels in case you didn't know, all back up the story of Jesus when he lived on earth. They all attest to his death and the empty tomb. No one, and I mean no one, has been able to show that he didn't rise from the dead. Even when there were so many Romans who didn't want that to be true. It could have been such an easy story to debunk if they ever found his body. But they didn't! What is your answer to that?
I suggest that you brush up on your history.
Thank you Micah.
ReplyDeleteNot enough people understand that it is worth believing in what the Bible says, whether you take it to be complete factual accounts, or more of a life-guiding, metaphorical text. Either way you look at it, the Bible is amazing. The Bible is about how to live a good life and have loving relationships. Be like Jesus. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life". And what was Jesus like? He was the most loving and giving person to have ever existed. He made the ultimate sacrifice just to save us. And if that's not an example (whether he is truly the son of God or not) to follow in life, then I don't know what is. And I'm not saying we all must sacrifice our lives to save others - we don't have to do that at all. Jesus already saved US ALL through his one sacrifice, according to the Bible. All we have to do is try the best we can to live like Jesus lived.
Your history is not correct and the Bible does not have one clear message, perhaps the New Testament does but not the Torah, essentially the Old Testament, better known as the Pentateuch in the Second Temple Period.
ReplyDeleteAs a matter of fact, The Hebrew word torah, originally meant "teaching, instruction," increasingly began to refer to a written text, "the Torah of Moses," even today, the Torah remains at the core of Jewish identity and a link to the past.
The Jews as you should know do not consider Jesus as the messiah, and he is not identified as such in the Torah or the Old Testament. So your statement that the Bible has a consistent message is just plain wrong.
By the way, they never found the body of Jimmy Hoffa. This proves nothing!
It is useless to debate with someone like you Micah who has the screen name of a Jewish scholar and do not know it. Here is a new book for you to read, Religion in Human Evolution, Robert Bellah. Also read any of Karen Armstrong's excellent books on religious history.
Good luck in getting to heaven. Save me a place, lol.
Micah is right. I know it because Jesus spoke to me when I was lost after I broke up with my girl. I was ready to end it all, then a voice cried out to me, and I turned and it was Jesus. I am now born again and waiting for the rapture. I am so ready. I do not need anyone to tell me that I came from a bunch of monkeys. I came from Adam and Eve. Jesus is real. You doubters like 3.09 better get right with God or you will burn. End of days is coming. Thanks Micah for standing up for Jesus.
ReplyDeleteHeyy 3:16... I also said commit no crime. There are prejudices that are evil that lead to crimes that hitler, stalin commited... no belief justifies these things EVER. I'm only saying a belief in a creator is ok although I may not share it. No matter what you believe you should care about the people you share the world with and help its people and environment any way you can.
ReplyDeleteRead the WHOLE post before you run your ignorant mouth.
Not one of the pro religion posters have commented on accepting others for what they believe assuming it's not prejudiced, ignorant, or xenophobic. Its your way or else, which is un deniably wrong
1:39, you tell me what is better to do. Tell you that your precious perspective is valuable no matter what the consequence or let you know that you are heading for trouble.
ReplyDeleteTolerance is biggest, stupid doctrine ever taught!
5:40
ReplyDelete"Tolerance is biggest, stupid doctrine ever taught!" - Ummmmmm what???? That is so idiotic, not to mention bombastic and grammatically incorrect.
No one can take what you're saying seriously.
Either way, beliefs are what make a person. I might understand, and respect your beliefs, but not accept them for myself, nor would I have to accept you if your beliefs made you a certain kind of person. When it comes to religious matters, that is rather private and personal, and pushing one's own private religious beliefs onto another, or ridiculing someone for the beliefs they have, is just inconsiderate and annoying.
Um 5:40, looks like you agree with me by calling what I say idiotic and that no one can take what I say seriously. That seems sooooooo tolerant to me
ReplyDeleteHow ironic it is that you called all Christians judgmental when you're judgmental yourself.
